The History of Wu Taiji

Wu-style Taiji Quan is derived from Yang-style Taiji Quan. The founders of Wu-style Taiji Quan were father and son Wu, Quanyou and Wu, Jianquan (1870 - 1942) in Daxing County, Hebei Province. They belonged to the Race Manchu, and Wu, Quanyou had been taught Yang-style Taiji Quan by Yang, Luchan in Beijing. Wu, Quanyou first learned of the large frame, and then changed to learn the small frame of Taiji Quan. He taught what he learned to his son Wu, Jianquan. And after ten-years development, Wu, Jianquan created a new style of Taiji Quan, that is, Wu Taiji Quan. Wu-style Taiji is popular not only in China but also in the United States and Southeast Asia
