The History of Lee Taiji Quan

Lee Taiji Quan, known as five-star hammer, is set by modern well-known martial artists, such as Wang Lanting and Li Ruidong, who and their friends compose many sects of Wushu in order to develop the characters of Lee Taiji Quan.

Li Ruidong (1851 - 1917), nicknamed Nose Li, was born in Wuqing County in Hebei Province. When he is a child, he never stops to learn WuShu in Shaolin. In the beginning of training, he luckily falls in love with wrestling and boxing. And of course, he contributes all his energy and time to his practice, gradually, after hard learning from others, he improves his profession quickly.

Wang Lanting, who was born in 1840, martial arts masters from the early years, made friends with Li Ruidong. We must keep in mind that Wang Lanting, who followed the Yang Lu Chan Taiji Quan for seven years, won the Taiji Quan’s exquisite and good wrestling technique. As we know, there the two are like brothers, and to forge Taiji Quan. On one hand, Wang Lanting had proficiency of the boxing of Lee Taiji Quan, and then set an example of others to follow. On the other hand, Li Ruidong mixed the many characters of Taiji Quan and also added new elements into the Taiji Quan.

Then Wang Lanting and Li Ruidong had the fraternal relations between themselves. As we known, Xi Kongsan, Longtan monk, and others agreed to schedule the Five Elements Tai Chi hammer (five-star hammer), known as the "five sub-fist" to show the five people who created these. It is known to all that the Shaolin boxing reflects the feature of the WuShu in China, and Tai Chi hammer absorbs the advantages of Shaolin boxing in order to develop Chinese WuShu. We believe that our intention of practice of Tai Chi is to build the strong body in order to make our life into colorful.
