Taiji Quan is Good

for Our “Two Brains”

The "Earth" magazine reported that scientists believed that human feelings and perceptions were coming out from the stomach, and the stomach had a very complex neural network. This "second brain", which was also known as abdominal brain, had approximately 100 billion nerve cells. The news attracted the attention of a lot of people, especially for the people concerned about their health.

Do you believe that people have two brains? You might say that they are definitely conjoined twins! No, this is a special case. What I mean is that each person has two brains, not referring to left-brain, or right brain. What’s more, the other is simply not the head. This is not fantasy, not nonsense, but it is well-founded, scientific research. This brain is so-called abdominal brain known as “abdominal nervous system”. It is distributed in the digestive tract wall, stomach, large intestine tissue cells, and it is responsible for the exchange of information by the neurons and a large number of auxiliary cells whose structure is the same as the "real brains".

Both these “two brains” can take advantages from Taiji Quan. Firstly, let’s talk about abdominal brain. Taiji Quan makes our waist loose, buttocks grabbing and some other postures, which create an sufficient internal environment and space for our abdominal brain. When people are practicing Taiji Quan they are required to be quiet, which let our brain produce "endorphin" material, that is B-endorphin. This promotion of brain changes brain waves to rise and fall. From a scientific test results show that B-endorphin is able to give people a better memory, peaceful and pleasant feelings. On the other hand, Taiji Quan also requires several postures for our heads, like making our lower jaw a little bit closed and keep our view line horizontal, which have the following functions, like (1),connecting our vascular inside the body,(2), making more saliva in our mouth nourishing our stomach, which is also good for our abdominal brain. The requirements of Taiji Quan provide our “two brains” a good opportunity to commute and exchange feedback.
