Ba Gua & Modern Science

Figure 1: This is Sixty-Four Gua.
Bringing Taiji Ba Gua map, many people find it very mysterious. As the mystery of Ba Gua, it has seldom been able to speak some truth. Taiji is a circular map, which painted yin-yang fish; Ba Gua map is an octagonal shape is, and each edge has a special symbol (such as the title of chart). There are two views that people are hard to understand Taiji Ba Gua Map: One view is that Taiji Ba Gua map is so mystery that it is unfathomable. The other is superstitious view of Taiji Ba Gua map, which is telling divination superstition thing.

Taiji Ba Gua map is the ancient Chinese cultural and scientific heritage, the crystallization of wisdom of working people in China's ancient civilization. It is not only for the people in ancient times an indelible meritorious contribution, and it is also a significant contribution in the modern times. The United States astronomers Paul Tang in January 1930 discovered the solar system's ninth planet Pluto date. Soon it was suggested that the solar system has tenth planet. However, the observational data did not accurately predict the tenth planet. At that time, the Chinese student Liu Hua who was 27 years old, was in a work-study program in France, and he determined to break a new path which did not rely on Newton's gravity theory to predict the solar system's tenth planet. Liu Hua was not just imagining, he found that the solar system and the Ba Gua of the stars of the hexagram, and there is a correlation. Based on this relationship, he used of astronomical parameters that correspond to the diagram of each bit of the average stellar to calculate their speed and density. After computing, Liu Hua was the first to calculate the tenth planet orbiting an average speed of 2 kilometers per second, the density of 0.424 grams per cubic centimeter, and the average distance from the sun is 7.4 billion kilometers. In accordance with the principles of Greek mythology, he named it "Wang Mu" in the back of Pluto. Liu Hua submitted the paper to University of Paris, France, as a thesis to obtain a doctoral degree. This is the first time that Chinese scientists in the modern used of Taiji Ba Gua map and made great contribution to shock the world. The contribution of ancient Chinese Taiji Ba Gua map to modern science are manifold.

In 1973, biologist Goldberg posed the "Yin-Yang hypothesis" which was very important in the field of molecular biology. He was precisely inspired by the subject of Taiji Ba Gua map, and put forward the hypothesis. In fact, in 1957 Ostrander discovered the cyclic gland phosphorus. In 1963, Price found a cyclic guanosine phosphorus. At that times, Goldberger saw the Taiji Ba Gua map from a Chinese Medicine book which was published from North Korea, and he was greatly inspired by that of a cyclic gland phosphate and a cyclic guanosine phosphate, and summarized a theory. That is, they are two opposing body-conditioning systems, and it was satisfied by the oriental medicine theory of "Yin and Yang". It may be a "yin and yang" of the material basis, which made the famous "yin-yang hypothesis." Goldberger in 1981 visit to China to give lectures on his hypothesis, and further elaborated.

Unique to ancient China, Taiji Ba Gua map does have a great meaning in philosophy. But since it has very long history, the Taiji Ba Gua map to today's people, is still a fascinating mystery: How was Taiji Ba Gua map created? what was the purpose to create it? ... ... There are a lot of issues, and so far only some legends answer these questions, but no conclusive answers. Anyway, The ancient Taiji Ba Gua map,is the door of the temple of modern science.
